HENRY GREEN PRIMARY School lifted their second borough girls’ league title in three years after a 2-0 win against George Carey in their final league game of the season. District star Tina Mutuale’s second half free-kick brought down the curtain on a fine year for her side – who also captured the Monteagle Shield earlier in the campaign.
Henry Green built momentum over the season following early narrow wins over Roding Hewett, Thames View and potential title rivals Hunters Hall.
Roding Cannington, The Leys, Ripple and Northbury were then put to the sword before a surprise draw with Valence opened up the race for the top spot.
Had they lost their penultimate game to Godwin, their opponents would have lifted the trophy however a 1-0 win followed by their final day victory ensured they ended their double-winning season unbeaten.
