JRCS Y7 1-10 Barking & Dagenham

Tenth District Goal

BARKING & DAGENHAM GIRLS BRUSHED off the festive cobwebs in fine style during their traditional season opener against Jo Richardson.

Ella Eskelson settled the nerves as she opened the scoring on four minutes after good work from schoolmate Grace Young.

Former district striker Mariam Daisy Ngobo Azeez pulled the hosts back into the contest, pouncing on hesitation at the back to level the scores.

Determination

Eskelson’s determination saw her double her tally two minutes later before skipper Pahris Cotterell stabbed home from close range after Emily Brown’s initial effort was saved.

In the second half, Cotterell’s influence grew as she ran in four more quick goals. The first was a conversion of Nour Khalfaoui’s fine through-ball before a mazy solo run made it 5-1. Five became six as Cotterall blasted in from thirty yards and the captain wrapped up her scoring for the day to make it seven.

Industrious

Eskelson then completed her hat-trick showing good pace to finish from close range before Khalfaoui netted her first of the season following good work from the industrious Brown.

Aaliyah Young then picked out Khalfaoui in the closing stages for her tenth district goal.

Barking & Dagenham will be buoyed by the result, knowing the scoreline could have been much higher had they shown more deliberate finishing from the start. However they will also know that there are many more challenges ahead.
