Barking & Dagenham 3-0 South London

IT BECAME TWO GAMES, two wins and two clean sheets for Barking & Dagenham girls as they added to last week’s 8-0 win over Jo Richardson with a comfortable 3-0 victory at home to South London.

Captain Emily Brown began the scoring in the fifth minute when she was tripped inside the opposition box before dusting herself off to confidently smash the spot-kick into the bottom left corner.

And it was Brown who turned provider seven minutes later when her slide-rule pass behind the South London rear-guard sent Ellie Mai Morgan clear through on goal. With the keeper advancing off her line, Morgan arrowed the ball into the same corner as Brown to double the lead.

Slide-rule

Five minutes before half-time and the game was in the bag when Grace Young’s quickly taken throw-in set Brown off and running once again. The skipper’s speculative drive was spilled by the visitor’s keeper only for Miquellah Meade to steal in and convert the loose ball from two yards out.

In the second half, Barking & Dagenham had plenty of opportunities to add to their lead.

Morgan went close twice in the first minute after the restart and Brown’s shot from long-range was tipped onto the bar moments later.

Kayla Grain and Ianna Msekwa took it in turns to maraud forward from the back, both tested the keeper with well-struck efforts.

Young, Brown and Morgan could all have added to the tally however the final result was never in doubt as Barking & Dagenham dominated both territory and possession.
