14/11/15 – Essex Finch League

Basildon 1-5 Barking & Dagenham

BARKING & DAGENHAM U11S CONTINUED their rich vein of form with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Basildon in their latest Essex Finch league game. Ethan Wenayeto’s four-goal salvo and Alex Towse’s first of the season saw the side make it two wins on the spin.

The visitors dominated the opening stages of the game and both Harry Brown and Wenayeto went close with long range efforts. Basilio Rieno-Socoliche saw an effort flash wide of the upright before Brown was denied by a point blank saved after he had waltzed his way into the Basildon area.

Basildon offered very little going forward and it was no surprise when Barking & Dagenham finally took the lead. Alex Young’s corner fell into the path of Brown and even though his fierce effort was saved by the Basildon keeper, Towse was on hand to emphatically smash the rebound home for his first goal of the season.

Barking & Dagenham continued to dictate the game, quicker and stronger all over the park but were unable to extend their lead. David Osei-Kaffour went close with a snap shot before Towse nearly grabbed his second but he was denied by a last ditch tackle.

Dominant

Young then saw his rasping drive deflected wide and Brown had another effort that was well saved by the home keeper. Such was the dominance of the away side, Owen Duggan was a virtual spectator in the Barking & Dagenham goal. However, he was called upon just before the break but he was equal to the strike from the Basildon striker.

Barking & Dagenham were quick out of the traps again in the second period and it didn’t take them long to extend their advantage. A flowing move involving Brown and Young saw Wenayeto presented with a chance and the Gascoigne frontman coolly slotted the ball under the keeper to give his side a well-deserved second.

A third goal wasn’t far behind and it was almost a carbon copy of the seond. Connor Gavin neatly back heeled the ball into the path of Junior Ngala who teed up Wenayeto and the striker finished with real aplomb.

By this point Barking & Dagenham were rampant and Young saw his long range strike hit the crossbar and only a smart save from the home keeper denied Wenayeto his hat trick.

Skipping

Basildon did manage to get in behind the Barking & Dagenham defence at the other end but Jay Modza-Smith was on hand to thwart the danger.

Brown and Young then almost combined to send Rieno-Socoliche clear. Rieno-Socoliche then skipped past three challenges but his pull back was just behind the onrushing Wenayeto.

However it wasn’t long before Wenayeto completed his treble with the goal of the game. There seemed little threat when he received a pass on the half way line but the District top scorer had other ideas. Cutting inside, he evaded two tackles before unleashing a swerving effort that went in via the underside of the bar. It was a superb goal and one that underlined the superiority of Barking & Dagenham.

Basildon then pulled one back with one of their own but Barking & Dagenham put the seal on their impressive performance with a fifth. Fittingly it was Wenayeto who grabbed the goal, his fourth of the game. Once again he showed brilliant close control to make half a yard of space for himself in the area and his low effort went in off both uprights.

The game finished with more chances for Barking & Dagenham but they were unable to score again but they travelled back home with the points after an impressive all round performance.
